At the 2024 convocation ceremony of Government National College, Sirsa, former Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshilal emphasised that the purpose of a graduation ceremony was not just about receiving a degree but pledging to dedicate oneself to humanity.

He spoke of the importance of seeking goodness in life, referencing philosophical teachings, religious texts and the dialogues between Lord Krishna and Arjuna. Prof Ganeshilal urged the graduates to live not just for themselves but for the betterment of humanity and expressed his vision for a world united without divisions of religion, country, or caste. Prof Ganeshilal conferred degrees to 250 undergraduate and 150 postgraduate students.

The ceremony, which was held under the coordination of vice-principal Prof Harjinder Singh and Naveen Kumar Makkar, was chaired by principal Sandeep Goyal. It began with a welcoming ceremony for the chief guest, followed by a roping ceremony in his honour. Afterward, a tribute to Saraswati Devi was paid with a lamp lighting ceremony, and the college’s anthem was sung.
