The sneaking of mobile phones and other prohibited materials into the jail complex has been a problem area for the authorities. Most items were thrown by miscreants from outside. The government has contemplated a number of steps to curb the menace, but they are yet to materialise.

Meanwhile, the police have also booked another notorious criminal lodged in the jail, identified as Nirmal Singh alias Nimma aka Dehla. Dehla is the brother of Nirvail Singh Nehla who was arrested by the Kathunangal police yesterday. They had around 20 criminal cases against them.
