2,000 candidates skip exam for posts of medical officer

Around 2,000 candidates did not appear in the written exam conducted by Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS) here for 777 posts of medical officers in government-run healthcare institutes. A total of 7,994 candidates from across the state had applied for the posts.

The results of the exams would be declared on December 6. Notably, the posts of medical officers are lying vacant in majority of the districts putting an effect on the healthcare services.

“The written exam was conducted at 33 centers across Rohtak city. The flying squad remained present at every centre during the exam. Mobile jammers were installed at the centers while the biometric attendance of all candidates was also taken. The examination was conducted under CCTV surveillance. Videography and photography of all the candidates was also carried out,” said Dr HK Agarwal, Vice-Chancellor, UHS.

The VC along with Dr Amrish Bhagol, Controller of Examinations at UHS, and PGIMS Director Dr SK Singhal also inspected several exam centres to take stock of the situation.

Dr Dhruv Chaudhary, Dean, Academic Affairs, UHS, said four teams from the office of Director General (Health Services) also came here to inspect the exam centres. “Candidates were not allowed to carry anything in the exam centre except their admit card and a photo identity proof issued by the government,” he added.

Dr Amrish said question papers and answer keys would be uploaded on the university website. “The candidates will be able to file their objections from December 2 to 4 by emailing them to my department. The objections will be studied by a team of experts On December 5 and the final answer key will be uploaded by the night of that day,” he added.

The Controller maintained that the result of the written examination would be declared on December 6. “Candidates can check the university and DGHS website for the latest updates,” he added.
