The family of Behbal Kalan Insaaf Morcha member Gurpreet Singh has announced not to allow his post-mortem examination or cremation till the four assailants who killed him on October 9 were identified and arrested.

The police have rounded up over 20 persons from various parts of the state in connection with the case. Some youths have also been rounded up from Hari Nau village. One of them is already named in an extortion case.

Earlier, that youth was arrested by the Kotkapura police on August 27 for allegedly demanding Rs 70 lakh extortion money from a businessman. After about 40 days of judicial custody, he was released on bail on October 9, the day when Gurpreet Singh was killed.

After obtaining footage from various CCTVs installed in the village, the police have prepared the sketches of four assailants who reached Hari Nau village on two bikes on October 9 evening and shot Gurpreet Singh dead.

Family members of the deceased and some Panthic organisations have announced not to cremate the body until the assailants are arrested. Faridkot SSP Dr Pragaya Jain said the police were working to crack the murder case as soon as possible.
