IN the absence of proper repair and maintenance, the Rajgarh-Khari section of the Rajgarh-Nahan road has become a cause for concern for motorists who have to trudge through the potholed road. The PWD has failed to repair the road as a result of which at least a 20-km stretch is riddled with potholes. The callous attitude of the state government to repair rural roads, which are the lifeline of the rural economy in Himachal, exposes its lack of priority for the rural population. Almost 90% of people reside in rural areas and attention should be accorded to roads in the area.

While The Chhonch Khud Bridge on the Indora-Kandrori link road is crying for government attention as its construction could not be completed even after four years of its foundation-laying ceremony. Students and commuters are the worst-affected. With the Public Works Department failing to complete its construction on time and the slow pace of ongoing work, resentment is brewing among local residents. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur is urged to direct the PWD authorities to complete the bridge till March 31 so that people of Indora subdivision do not face any problem during rainy season.
