2 sarpanches suspended

Ambala DC Parth Gupta has suspended the sarpanches of Patvi and Ismailpur gram panchayats for negligence in discharging duties. He has also ordered inquiries against them and sought reports within a month.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau had received a complaint against Gram Panchayat Patvi regarding illegal cutting of trees on the panchayat land.

In the matter of sarpanch of Isamailpur, under the Punjab Land Preservation Act, 37 acres in the village was declared a closed forest area, but it was being used for agricultural purposes. In April, the Forest Officer, Ambala, informed the sarpanch not to go for bids on this land. The sarpanch also didn’t participate in the demarcation of the land in May.
