2 nabbed for duping people via job scams
The cyber police here have arrested two persons, including a woman, on the charges of cyber fraud. They used to call people on the pretext of providing jobs and lure them into depositing money in their accounts. The police have recovered Rs 1.2 lakh and phones from their possession. An FIR was registered at the cybercrime east police station.
A team of the cybercrime east police station had received information that people were being cheated on the pretext of jobs by people present in a house in DLF Phase 3. When the police raided the spot, they found a young man and a woman in the house. They were identified as Divya Srivastava of Gonda in UP and Prasun Tiwari of Siwan in Bihar.
The duo first tried to mislead the police, but later revealed that they would call people on the pretext of providing jobs and them get them to transfer money in the account of The Chandigarh State Cooperative Bank. In October, they had cheated a person named Balbir Singh in the name of getting a job. They have already committed many such frauds. Divya withdrew the money from her bank account through an ATM and the police recovered Rs 1.2 lakh from their possession.
