2 lakh ashwagandha plants to be distributed in 10 districts

Ayush, Youth Services, Sports and Legal Advisory Minister Yadvinder Goma yesterday said two lakh ashwagandha plants would be distributed in 10 districts, which frequently experience warm climatic conditions, under the National Ashwagandha Campaign.
The state had become the first in the country to provide excellent Ayush health services, he added.
As many as 127 Ayush centres of the state had been included in ‘best Ayush Health Services’ category by the Union Government, he said, adding that work was being done to include other Ayush centres in the category of excellence soon.
He said a large number of people were adopting the ayurvedic system of treatment and the government was making serious efforts to expand it in the state.
Under the National Ashwagandha Campaign, a drive has been started to make people aware of the medicinal properties of ashwagandha.
In this series, so far, about 12,000 ashwagandha plants have been distributed in 7 subdivisions of the Ayush Department under Kangra district.
Goma said under the leadership of CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the government was taking welfare decisions keeping in mind the interests of the poor. Work was being done to ensure that the schemes reach every person at the village level, he added. He said Rs 5 lakh had been released as the first instalment for the construction of the Bhuana Ayurvedic dispensary building, which would be ready within a year.
He added that a regular doctor had been posted at the Primary Health Centre, Bhuana, and blood test facility had also been started.
An X-ray machine would soon be made available here for the convenience of the people, he added.
