The police claimed to have arrested two persons for attempting to kidnap a boy in Tanda and demanding a ransom of Rs 3 crore in the name of Bambiha gang.

SSP Surendra Lamba said on December 20, 2023, some people tried to kidnap the son of a college principal. The suspects later called him and demanded a ransom of Rs 3 crore in the name of Bambiha gang.

The SSP said on December 20, 2023, Rohit Tandon, a resident of Tanda, had told the police that two motorcycle-borne miscreants tried to kidnap his son Sachin Tandon. A case in this regard was registered under Sections 363 and 511 of the IPC at the Tanda police station.

The suspects later threatened Rohit by calling from foreign numbers and demanded a ransom of Rs 3 crore.

A case in this regard was registered against the suspects under Sections 385 and 506 of the IPC on January 5. The police later added Section 384 to the case.

A special operation was initiated under the supervision of SSP Sarabjit Singh Bahia to trace the cases. The police formed special teams to investigate the case.

During investigation, the police arrested two suspects – Manpreet, alias Prince Nagra, a resident of Ward No. 6, Patwari Mohala, Tanda, and Anil Kumar, alias Radhe, a resident of Ludhiana and presently residing in Tanda.

The police recovered the motorcycle used in the crime and two mobile phones from their possession. The SSP said the suspects did not have any previous criminal record. During primary investigation, it came that they had no connection with the Bambiha gang.
