Two friends were killed in a road accident at the Sabzi Mandi Chowk here last night. The deceased have been identified as Rohit Tandon and Mohit.

Mohit’s father Pawan Kumar said his son was returning home after attending a birthday party with Rohit on a motorcycle. Mohit was looking for sweets shop to buy sweets for his sister, Muskan, who gave birth to a child.

He said the two-wheeler they were riding skidded near Sabzi Mandi Chowk and collided with a divider.

Subhash Tandon said his son Rohit called him around 11 pm and told him that he, along with Mohit, was going to visit Muskan.

After getting information, the Division No. 4 police reached the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Investigating officer ASI Kulbir Singh said the bodies were handed over to the family members after post-mortem examination.

2 lives snuffed out in road mishaps

Ludhiana: Two persons were killed in separate road mishaps in the district. The deceased have been identified as Sarabjit Singh and Sourav.

The first incident took place in Sidhwan Bet. Complainant Gurdev Singh, a resident of Rajapur village, told the police that Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Deep Nagar, Patiala, was heading towards his place after delivering some items in Zira in his goods carrier on October 14. When he reached Abbupura village near Sidhwan Bet, a tractor-trailer loaded with stubble hit his vehicle. As a result, his vehicle entered into the fields. Sarabjit, who suffered serious injuries, died on the spot. The Sidhwan Bet police registered a case against the unidentified driver yesterday. They have launched manhunt to trace the driver.

In another accident, a road accident victim, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chandigarh, succumbed to his injuries on October 13.

Complainant Deepak Kumar, a resident of Tibba road, said his auto developed some snag on October 12. While he was trying to repair the fault, his brother-in-law Sourav, along with two other persons, was standing near the tempo. A speeding motorcycle, being driven by Sagar, rammed into them. Sourav suffered serious injuries in the mishap. He was taken to a hospital in Chandigarh where he succumbed to his injuries on October 13.

A case has been registered against the biker, who is at large.
