The Ludhiana police claimed to have nabbed two farmers and a vegetable vendor and seized 13 kg of ganja from their possession.

The suspects have been identified as Ajit Singh (35), Dirender Singh (42) and Bhunwar Passi (62), all residents of Bihar. Ajit and Dirender are farmers while Bhunwar is a vegetable vendor.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Detective, Pawanjit, in a statement issued stated that CIA-2 in-charge inspector Rajesh Sharma, along with a police team, was patrolling on Tajpur Road to keep a tab over smugglers and anti-social elements. They received a tip-off regarding the suspects who had been into the drug trade and they were supplying ganja to their clients in the region. As per information, they had boarded a train from Bihar and reached Ludhiana to deliver a huge quantity of ganja to their clients.

The ACP said after reaching Ludhiana, the suspects went towards the Chandigarh road where they were waiting for their clients outside a school. The police conducted a raid and nabbed the three suspects. They seized 13 kg of ganja from the trio. A case under the NDPS Act was registered.

Ajit has a criminal past as a drug smuggling case was registered against him by the Ludhiana police in 2021. After coming out on bail in the case, he again started drug smuggling along with his accomplices, said Pawanjit, adding that the police remand of the suspects would be sought from court so that the entire drug supply line could be busted and big drug suppliers involved in the drug racket be nabbed.
