Two drug smugglers were sent to jail in two separate cases.

In the first case, Additional Sessions Judge Manila Chugh sentenced Azad Singh, a resident of Jandiala Guru, Amritsar, to 12-year imprisonment for smuggling approximately 40,000 intoxicating pills.

According to the prosecution, the case was registered on June 27, 2023, at the Khadoor Sahib police station. Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a naka and intercepted the suspect. During search, the police recovered a large quantity of intoxicating pills from his possession. The police arrested the suspects and presented him before the court.

In another case, Additional Sessions Judge Jagdeep Sood sent Lakhbir Singh, a resident of Phulawal, to 10 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh for smuggling intoxicating powder.

The prosecution informed the court that the case was registered on May 4, 2017, at the Maloud police station in Khanna. Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a naka and arrested the accused. During checking, they recovered intoxicating powder from his possession. The suspect pleaded not guilty and sought leniency in the court.

After hearing arguments and examining evidence, the courts pronounced the sentences.
