Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Tarn Taran, being run under the aegis of the Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society, Amritsar, completed a two-day training programme for science teachers here on Sunday. The aim was to enhance their proficiency in modern technologies.

The training, which commenced at the school’s ATL Tinkering Lab, promises to equip teachers with the necessary skills to inspire and educate their students in the field of science and technology.

The training saw teachers delve into the fundamentals of programming languages C and C++, followed by practical sessions on programming LED bulbs and buzzers. The teachers also engaged in the creation of innovative solutions, such as blind specs and a blind stick, both utilizing ultrasonic sensors. The workshop also focused on advanced topics, beginning with an introduction to the various sensors and devices available in the lab. Teachers learned how to use LCDs to display characters and variable numbers on screen as well as how to utilize the DHT11 sensor for temperature and humidity sensing, with real-time data displayed on the LCD screen.

Additionally, they were introduced to the HCOS sensor (Bluetooth sensor) for controlling devices such as toys, TVs, and bulbs via Bluetooth. The day also included a session on programming all these sensors, bulbs and LCDs in a single project, along with an introduction to Teachable Machine under AI, which is directly related to the curriculum.

Furthermore, students were taught soldering and de-soldering techniques, enhancing their practical skills in electronics. Harjit Singh, Gurinder Singh and Randeep Singh, office-bearers of the managing committee, Ranjit Bhatia, school principal, praised the teachers for their commitment to professional development.
