The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Panchkula, has booked three policemen in a case of cheating and corruption. As per an FIR, the three duped a commuter of Rs 1,000 at the Jaloli toll plaza in Panchkula during their duty. The accused have been identified as exemptee sub-inspector (ESI) Om Prakash, Haryana home guard (HGH) Sachin and special police officer (SPO) Surender.

Complainant Additional District Attorney (ADA) Rohit Singla had complained to the ACB that he was duped of Rs 1,000 by the accused in the name of issuing a challan for speeding.

Singla said he was going from Panchkula toward Yamunanagar on August 27, 2023, when he was stopped by the police officials and asked to pay Rs 1,000 as challan for speeding.

He said he paid the amount online by scanning a QR code on his mobile phone but was not issued a receipt for the same. He then complained to the police.

During investigation of the matter, the ACB found out that the said transaction was credited into the bank account of Yashpal Sachdeva, a sweets shop owner and a resident of Dera Bassi in Mohali. The ACB also found out that the three accused were present at the Jaloli toll plaza on the said date as traffic vehicle interceptors when the money was transferred from the complainant’s account. The call details collected in the matter proved that one of the three accused had also called Sachdeva.

The ACB found out that the three stopped the complainant’s vehicle to dupe him of the amount in the name of issuing a challan, despite the fact that the department had specially directed officials on duty to not stop vehicles for checking or issuing challans.
