18,000 MT of C&D waste cleared in October: Municipal Corporation of Delhi
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-ruled Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) claimed it had cleared over 18,000 metric tons of construction and demolition (C&D) waste from across the city in a sweeping clean-up drive throughout October.
The MCD launched a month-long campaign to address the growing concerns over C&D waste accumulation. “MCD remains committed to improving the lives of Delhiites by implementing citizen-friendly measures,” Mayor Shelly Oberoi said.
“By geo-tagging waste clearance sites, the MCD has enhanced transparency and accountability, ensuring precise data on waste removal across each location,” she added.
Oberoi also encouraged the public to participate in these efforts urging residents to report waste concerns through the MCD311 App. “We will continue to clear C&D waste from all over Delhi. Residents can report instances on the MCD311 App to get waste lifted from their surroundings.”
The clean-up drive focused on areas throughout Delhi, with operations tailored to each zone’s specific waste density and civic complaints. The Central Zone emerged as the highest-performing region, clearing over 2,800 metric tons of waste from key sites, including Nizamuddin West, Barapullah Nallah, Amar Colony, and Kalkaji Extension Main Road, MCD said.
