18-yr-old stabbed to death at Dasehra ground in Balongi

An 18-year-old youth, Suraj, a resident of Phase 1, was stabbed to death by unidentified youths at the Dashera ground in Balongi on Saturday night.

The police said a murder case has been registered against around seven unidentified persons at the Balongi police station.

Locals said when Suraj alighted form a “merrywheel”, youths attacked him with rods. In the melee, someone stabbed him in the chest and stomach. He was taken to the Phase-6 Civil Hospital where the doctors referred him to the GMCH-32. The doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Balongi SHO Kulwant Singh said, “The police are investigating the matter from an old rivalry angle also. A breakthrough is likely to be achieved soon. The victim was a migrant youth.”
