18-yr-old ITI pupil killed in mishap
An 18-year-old motorcyclist, Monu from Jhikdu village, lost his life in a tragic accident involving a tipper truck near the Industrial Training Institute on the Chamba-Saho road. The accident took place around 4 pm as Monu, a student at a private ITI in Sarol, was heading home after classes. His bike reportedly skidded and collided with a tipper truck approaching from Chamba, resulting in his immediate death. A large crowd gathered at the scene, and the police were promptly alerted. Upon arrival, a police team investigated and questioned witnesses. Monu's body was taken to Chamba Medical College, where a postmortem was yet to be conducted. Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is ongoing.
2nd phase of IDPC drive from Nov 18
Chamba: A district-level task force meeting was held in Chamba on Thursday to review preparations for the upcoming Intensive Diarrhoea and Pneumonia Control (IDPC) fortnight. The meeting aimed to strategise efforts to achieve zero mortality due to diarrhoea and pneumonia among children aged 0 to 5 years. Chamba Chief Medical Officer Dr Bipin Thakur stated that the IDPC fortnight will be conducted in three phases this year. The second phase is scheduled for November 18 to December 2. District Health Officer Dr Jalam Bhardwaj said special attention will be given to vulnerable groups, including nomadic families, children at construction sites and migrant communities.
