17 get state award at Teachers’ Day function

The Department of School Education, UT, today organised a Teachers’ Day function at the Raj Bhawan. The programme was a mix of cultural extravaganza and felicitation ceremony for awarding state awards and commendations to teachers. Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria graced the occasion as the chief guest. UT Adviser Rajeev Verma was the guest of honour.

The event started off with lamp lighting after which teachers of GGMSSS-18 presented a beautiful group dance depicting the role of a teacher in the lives of students and nation building. The final felicitation ceremony started off where 17 principals and teachers were given state awards, 9 teachers were given commendation for their extraordinary work and four educators received special recognition award.

The local MC also celebrated Teachers’ Day under the ‘Swachhata ki Mohar’ initiative. Mayor Kuldeep Kumar honoured ‘swachhata mentors’ from schools and colleges across the city.
