The police on Friday seized 14,680 sedative tablets from different peddlers in Abohar, Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh segments.

In a joint action, both BSF and police seized 7,250 sedative tablets from Jasbir Singh Bittu and Gurcharan Singh Chimnia of Kotha village. Hindumalkot SHO Majid Khan said the duo was intercepted near Khakha village, near the Indo-Pakistan border on the Kotha Pakki-Roopnagar lane. A case was registered after sub-inspector Sham Singh submitted his report in this connection.

A biker, Lalit Kumar, was nabbed with 1,000 intoxicant tablets on his way to Kesarisinghpur, while 250 sedative tablets were seized from Jagir Singh of the Talwara Jheel area.

The Hanumangarh police claimed to have seized 4,730 sedative tablets from Rajinder Oudh (33). A court has allowed his custodial interrogation for one day.

The Abohar police seized 600 sedative tablets from Surmala Devi, a widow, and 700 tablets from Balwant Rai of Chakda village. Separate cases have been registered under the NDPS Act in both incidents.
