13-year boy dies after throat slit by Chinese string at Adampur

A 13-year-old boy, a student of Class VI, died after his throat was slit by Chinese string near the post office at Dana Mandi in Adampur.
The deceased, Jasveer Singh, son of Jatinder Singh, was going home with his brother on a scooter, when suddenly a Chinese string got entangled around his neck, causing a deep cut in his throat. He fell from the vehicle, getting injured seriously.
The 13-year-old boy died on the way to the Civil Hospital here. His brother too sustained injuries.
Dr Baljit Singh, a doctor in the Civil Hospital, said the blood vessels in the child’s throat were severely cut, causing his death.
The father of the deceased, Jatinder Singh, a resident of Ajit Nagar in Adampur, said Jasveer had gone to the post office after his exam today and while returning home, he was injured by the string. The police have taken Jatinder’s statement and started investigation. The boy’s body has been sent to the Jalandhar Civil Hospital for postmortem.
He was studying in Class VI at a convent school. The residents of Adampur rued that despite the court banning the Chinese string, it is still being sold in the Adampur area, and that should the police had taken any action, Jasveer Singh’s life would not have been lost today.
