Rs 1,267 cr paid to farmers for procured paddy, says Jalandhar DC
The Deputy Commissioner, Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, reviewed the paddy procurement arrangements today, emphasising the administration’s commitment to ensuring a smooth process in the district. He stated the state government is continuously monitoring arrangements to facilitate seamless procurement in the mandis (markets), ensure timely payments and follow the issued guidelines.
Dr Aggarwal said a total payment of Rs 1,267 crore has been secured for paddy procured from farmers. He said the district has received 594,523 MT of paddy, with 588,235 MT already procured by various agencies. He highlighted the lifting of paddy is progressing rapidly, with 214,104 MT lifted so far and further acceleration of this process is planned.
The Deputy Commissioner said delays in procurement would not be tolerated, adding that strict action would be taken against negligent officials. He instructed officials the lifting of paddy should be conducted in an organised and efficient manner to prevent any difficulties for farmers.
