11 The expands language courses
The Delhi University’s Academic Council has approved a revised strategic plan for 2024-47, emphasising a comprehensive approach to boost research, collaboration and global standing. The decision follows the withdrawal of the previous plan due to plagiarism allegations.
The new plan, titled “Excellence in Education, Research and Sustainable Practices”, aligns with India’s national vision for development by 2047. It prioritises interdisciplinary research to tackle pressing societal and global issues, focusing on areas such as artificial intelligence, climate change and sustainable practices. Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said the strategic plan was crucial for achieving the goal of “Viksit Bharat”.
The council also approved new East Asian language courses at Ramjas, Hansraj and Ram Lal Anand colleges, including an advanced diploma in Korean and various diploma programmes in Chinese and Japanese.
Further curriculum updates included the Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Science at University College of Medical Sciences and a new DM course in Paediatric and Neonatal Anaesthesia at Lady Hardinge Medical College. Additionally, a committee was formed to address concerns about compliance with university regulations by the Principal of St Stephen’s College.
