Commissioner of the Ambala division, Geeta Bharti, will inaugurate the historical inter-state Shri Kapal Mochan-Shri Adibadri Mela in Bilaspur town of Yamunanagar district on November 11.

After the inauguration, she will visit the exhibition, being held by the Public Relations Department on mela premises.

The mela will be held here till November 15, where about eight-10 lakh devotees come every year from Punjab, Haryana and other states to take bath in three holy sarovars — Kapal Mochan, Rin Mochan and Suraj Kund — on the occasion of Kartik Purnima to attain moksha.

Shopkeepers are expecting a brisk business during the mela.

“Like previous years, this time also the mela will be the centre of attraction for the devotees in a big way. The district administration has completed preparations to welcome the devotees,” said Captain Manoj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chief Administrator of the mela.

He said about 10 lakh devotees were expected to reach the mela this year, adding that this time not only the number of benches had been increased on the mela premises, but toilets had also been prepared in sufficient numbers for the convenience of the devotees.

“Emphasis has been laid on making special arrangements for cleanliness on the mela premises,” said Captain Kumar.

He said tight security arrangements had been made at the mela, where CCTV cameras would remain functional, besides a control room to keep an eye on any suspicious activity and anti-social elements.

He added that arrangements had been made for uninterrupted power supply round the clock.

“Strict instructions have been given to the officials of the Electricity Department to maintain proper power supply during the mela time. Arrangements for generators have also been made to deal with emergency situations so that power supply remains uninterrupted,” said Captain Kumar.

The Deputy Commissioner said cultural programmes would be presented continuously on the mela premises to provide a devotional and patriotic atmosphere to the devotees visiting the mela.

He said adequate transport arrangements had been made for the devotees coming to the mela.

“Buses have been arranged from nearby districts so that the devotees do not have to face any kind of problem, while the frequency of local buses will also be increased. E-rickshaws have been arranged for the elderly to come from the parking to the mela,” said Captain Kumar.
