10 fatalities take death toll to 760 in Ludhiana

135 fresh infections reported in district

Today, 135 Covid cases were reported in the district while 10 persons lost their lives to the virus. Twentynine persons were on ventilator support.

A four-month-old baby, who was also suffering from myocarditis, succumbed to Covid at SPS Hospital.

Six men, who were aged around 60, died of Covid in the district. They belonged to Utala Samrala, Samrala Road, Phullanwal village, Urban Estate, Durgi; Haibowal Kalan and Joshi Nagar. These patients were suffering from hypertension and diabetes as well.

Two deceased aged around 50 belonge to New Kundanpuri and Vikas Nagar. A 47-year-old man was brought dead at the DMCH.

Those who tested positive of Covid include 61 persons who were referred by flu corners and 19 from OPDs. Ten police personnel and five healthcare workers were among fresh patients.

Recoveries increasing

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma said under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab Government, the number of Covid-19 patients getting cured in Ludhiana district was increasing with each passing day. There are 868 active patients in the district at present.

He said a total of 179 patients (135 new patients from Ludhiana district and 44 from other states/districts) had tested positive in the past 24 hours.

A total of 2,86,688 samples have been taken, of which the report of 2,84,711 samples have been received. While 2,64,062 samples tested negative, the reports of 1,977 samples were pending.

The number of patients from Ludhiana district is 18,333. The death toll has reached 760 in the district.

As many as 44,240 persons have been placed under home quarantine and the number of such cases at present is 3,087. Today, 108 more were placed under home isolation. Today, 3,688 samples were sent for testing.

Sharma appealed to the residents to follow all directions of the Punjab Government.
