Assistant Commissioner of Police Gurinderbir Singh Sidhu said the accused was arrested from Maqboolpura area. He was arrested in connection with a case of snatching a pistol from Hira Singh of New Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar area in November last year.

The victim was a goldsmith and used to go to Uttar Pradesh regarding the trade. He said Iqbal Singh, another goldsmith, used to go there for business. The ACP said as per the complainant, Iqbal used to stop him from doing trade in UP and therefore he allegedly hired some miscreants for threatening him.
