1 held for clash at toll plaza, threatening staff with pistol

The Chief Electoral Officer Commission, Haryana, has sought a report from the district administration in Hisar regarding an incident of fight that occurred at the Chaudhariwas toll plaza on the Hisar-Rajgarh highway last night. The police have arrested one person after registering a case in this connection.

The CEO, Haryana, received a complaint on his official social media handle on X about the incident with the video of the violent clash at the plaza between the staff and some youths who came in a vehicle at the place. One of the youths carried a pistol and threatened the employees. The CEO, acting on the complaint, stated that response in this regard had been sought from the District Election Officer.

The Hisar police spokesperson Vikas Lohchab said the police had registered a case in this connection and arrested one of the three accused, identified as Karamvir. He said the police were yet to recover the pistol from the accused and attempts were being made to arrest the remaining accused.

As per the Election Commission of India, the firearms must be deposited with the authorities concerned after the imposition of the model code of conduct.

In another incident, the Barwala police station in Hisar district sealed a liquor vend on the Hansi road in Barwala town yesterday after the police raid found that employees at the vend were selling liquor in a clandestine manner.

The SHO, Inspector Raj Kumar, said here today that a police team reached the liquor vend on getting information that liquor was being sold there in a clandestine manner. Notably, there was a ban on the sale of liquor after the campaign ended on Thursday.

The SHO said the main door of the shop was locked from inside. When it was opened in the presence of the Excise Inspector, three persons were found inside the vend. They revealed their names as Sunny, a resident of Talwandi Rana, Amit, a resident of Barwala, and Gaurav. A video had also gone viral which indicated that the persons at the vend had violated the dry day by selling liquor from the backdoor.
