Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has asserted that the state government is committed to making Haryana Police the leading police force of the country. He said a transparent recruitment process (TRP) had been implemented to ensure fair recruitment in the department.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and DGP Shatrujeet Kapur inspect the parade.

“The police service is challenging and the Haryana Police personnel perform their duties with patience even in difficult and adverse circumstances,” said the Chief Minister, while addressing the gathering at the passing-out parade ceremony organised at the Police Training College (PTC) in Sunaria village of Rohtak district on Wednesday.

As many as 1,265 police jawans of 18 companies were inducted into the police force on the occasion upon the completion of their training. Of the 1,265 jawans, 765 jawans underwent training at the Sunaria PTC and 500 jawans at Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban.

Saini exhorted the freshly inducted police personnel to work with the spirit of serving their country and society and perform their duties with dedication so that the efficiency of the police force can be enhanced. The Chief Minister said that in about 10 years, the state government had given employment to more than 1.32 lakh youth on merit.

“The Haryana Police is taking strict action against those involved in illegal drug trade. The Inter-State Drugs Secretariat and Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau have been established for the purpose,” said Saini.

Highlighting that national and international players were being recruited in the Haryana Police, he said of the 1,265 jawans inducted into the state police force on Wednesday, 601 were sportspersons.

The Chief Minister further stated that as soon as a call was received on ‘Dial 112’, the police reached for help within 7 minutes and 5 seconds. So far, 30 lakh calls had been received on this number and 93 per cent of the callers were satisfied with the police action, he claimed. The ‘Dial 112’ service has also been made available on WhatsApp.

He said the government had established the Haryana State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre to curb cyber crime and had started cyber crime helpline number 1930.

“Haryana is the only state in the country where a weekly off is given to every policeman,” the Chief Minister said.

Director-General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur said the special task force (STF) constituted to deal with serious crimes had proved effective in cracking many cases.

“The ex gratia given to the families of martyrs has been increased three times, children of martyrs are also given government jobs and monthly financial assistance is also provided to the dependent women. Under a contract made with a bank, a financial assistance of Rs 1 crore is given to the dependents of the martyr,” he stated.

The DGP said the government had taken the initiative of ensuring a free health check-up of policemen above 35 years of age and had also increased the ration allowance and uniform allowance of the jawans and officers, along with the provision of mobile allowance.

“A trip-monitoring service has been started by the police for women travelling alone. Cyber Helpline-1930 is being implemented efficiently and it has been linked to emergency service Dial 112,” he said.

Additional Director-General of Police (Rohtak Range and PTC Sunaria) KK Rao and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Shiv Charan were among others present.
