UP bypolls: Turnout below 60 per cent in all 9 seats, just 33 per cent in Ghaziabad

Mumbai: Altogether 58.43 per cent voters exercised their franchise Wednesday in the assembly elections in Maharashtra, where the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is vying to retain power and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) combine is hoping for a comeback.
The figures are provisional, election officials said, adding 61.74 per cent polling was recorded in the 2019 elections.
Voting began in all the 288 assembly seats at 7 am and ended at 6 pm. The votes will be counted on November 23.
Voting was also held in the Nanded Lok Sabha bypoll, where there was a direct fight between Ravindra Chavan of Congress and BJP's Santukrao Hambarde.
The Nanded bypoll was necessitated due to the death of sitting Congress MP Vasant Chavan on August 26. Ravindra Chavan is his son.
Jharkhand polls peaceful; 68 pc turnout recorded in 38 seats in final phase
Ranchi: Jharkhand witnessed peaceful polling in 38 seats in the second and final phase of assembly elections on Wednesday, with 68 per cent of 1.23 crore voters exercising their franchise amid tight security, officials said.
The turnout surpassed the 67.04 per cent voting in 2019, officials said.
With this, elections have concluded for the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly. Polling in the first phase of elections to 43 seats on November 13 had seen over 66 per cent of 1.37 crore voters exercising their franchise.
“Approximately 67.71 per cent voter turnout was recorded as per data calculated till 8 pm. Jamtara district topped the chart with 76.16 per cent polling while Bokaro district recorded the lowest at 60.97 per cent,” a poll official said.
The overall polling percentage in the state surpassed 63.9 per cent recorded in the 2019 Assembly polls, according to the Election Commission.
Polling began at 7 am in 14,218 booths across 12 districts and continued till 5 PM. However, polling in 31 booths ended at 4 pm.
The ruling JMM-led INDIA bloc is seeking to retain power riding on its welfare schemes, while the BJP-headed National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is trying to wrest it.

Jharkhand BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said he had filed a complaint with the Election Commission against a presiding officer for allegedly "favouring a ruling party candidate" in Madhupur Assembly constituency during voting. Dubey claimed that following his complaint, the officer was arrested. However, the Deoghar administration said the officer was replaced after being found too close to the voting compartment, which is against Election Commission rules.

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole slammed the BJP for dragging him in its allegations of Bitcoins misappropriation to influence the state polls and said he would take the legal route to fight the "fake" charges against him. After casting his vote in Bhandara district, Patole said he is a farmer and has nothing to do with Bitcoins.

BJP intensified its attack on Maharashtra opposition leaders Supriya Sule and Nana Patole for their alleged involvement in using Bitcoins illegally to fund elections, and claimed their roles will surface during the probe. Sule has rejected the charges, including the audio records purportedly featuring her voice, as fake and said she has filed complaint with the Election Commission and the Maharashtra Police.
