212 buses challaned for playing vulgar songs

Within days of an FIR against producers of a film based on a gangster’s life besides cases slapped against singers for singing raunchy songs, officials of the Transport Department today challaned 212 buses for playing obscene songs or the ones glorifying gangsters and weapons.
An official spokesperson said on the instructions of the CM Capt Amarinder Singh, a five-day special drive to curb the use video/audio clips glorifying drugs and gun culture in buses was conducted from February 7-11. More than 500 buses were checked.
All regional transport authorities (RTAs) held meetings with transporters, sensitising them about the ill-effects of vulgar songs on youngsters. These things encourage youngsters to go astray and succumb to the growing violence and gun culture being propagated through such filthy songs.
“The teams also emphasised the need to educate the drivers and conductors to refrain from such unhealthy practices, which blatantly pollute our glorious culture,” the official said.
The spokesperson added that such campaigns would be carried out frequently in future and instructions had already been issued to the SDMs and RTA Secretaries. — TNS
