Ban on sale of liquor
Kalka, October 10 A press note issued by Dr SS Phulia, DEO, stated that the sale of liquor has been prohibited at all liquor vends, hotels, restaurants, clubs and other places. The ban will remain enforced from October 13 (6 pm) to October 15 (6 pm), October 18 (6 am) to October 19 (6 pm). Besides this, all liquor vends in the rural and urban areas of the district will also remain closed on the said dates. Action will be taken against the violators. |

Rana appealed to public to vote for him. Chandigarh, October 10 The duplicate items were purchased from the markets in Delhi and Ludhiana and sold online to buyers by offering discounts. Police officials said replicas of 735 branded watches of Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Hublot, Cartier, Oak Chopard etc were recovered during the raid at a godown in the Industrial Area on September 25. Besides, garments, purses, shirts, jackets, shoes of international brands such as Gucci, Prada, Salvatore, Louis Vuitton, Hermes Paris, Armani, Burberry, Zapitos, Diesel, Hublot etc were seized in large numbers. The Chandigarh Police had received more than eight complaints regarding the fake products through the websites www.watchcartz.com, www.digaaz.com and www.luxecart.com etc. Theft case: Man alleges police apathy A resident of Sector 41-A has alleged police apathy stating that no action was taken in a theft case that took place at his house. The complainant, Harbhajan Singh, alleged that Rs 20,000 and some documents were stolen from his house on June 29 but when he complained to the local police, no action was taken by them. Singh further alleged that he was even threatened by police officials who claimed that no theft had taken place at his residence. Singh stated that when his complaint was not registered by the police, he gave a written complaint to the NHRC. The complainant further alleged that he suspected a resident of Sector 41-A of having committed the theft. However, later in October, a case under 380, IPC, was registered at the Sector 39 police station. Meanwhile, three more theft cases were registered in the city on Thursday, including two of vehicle theft. In one of the case, Dr Poornima Sehgal reported that someone has stolen the water meter from the dispensary in Sector 19. A case has been registered. |

Man booked for duping Delhi jeweller of Rs 4.5 lakh
Chandigarh, October 10 The suspect, Rajeev Bhardwaj, allegedly placed an order of a gold set at the complainant’s shop a month back. The complainant, Saurabh Golcha, said Bhardwaj also gave him a cheque for Rs 75,000. The cheque, however, bounced, following which Bhardwaj assured Golcha that he will pay the payment in cash on delivery. When Golcha visited Chandigarh for delivery, the accused allegedly took him to the passport office, stating that his wife worked there and he would pay the cash from her account. “I waited for Rajeev outside the office for an hour, but he did not come out. When I went inside, I came to know that no woman with the name mentioned by Rajeev worked there,” the complainant told the police. When Golcha went to the address given by the suspect, the house was locked and the neighbours told him it was vacant for the past many years. Following this, Golcha lodged a complaint at the Sector 34 police station. |

Chandigarh, October 10 After winning the toss the DPS elected to bat. The partnership of 167 runs by Aayush Sikka and Jaan Brar helped the DPS put a total of 296 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.
