The beautiful game The sculpture “Maracaña” by Brazilian artist Nelson Leirner, is on display at the exhibition “Fútbol: The Beautiful Game”, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in Los Angeles, California. “Maracaña” (2003), a work in plaster, plastic, ceramic and wood, shows figurines of pop culture and religious figures as well as other people in the audience of a match between squads of Incredible Hulks and red Power Rangers. The exhibition celebrates soccer on the eve of the World Cup in Brazil while examining the sport and its significance in societies around the world. photo:
