Mohali, November 18 The accused, identified as Randhir Singh, a resident of Gurdaspur, Viney Kumar and Karu Lal, both from Madhya Pradesh, were produced before the local court, which sent them on two-day remand under the police custody. According to sources, the case has its link with the State Chemical Examiner Laboratory at Kharar, in which four employees identified as Dr Rajwinder Pal Singh, assistant chemical examiner (medical), RK Mishra, junior assistant, Lekh Raj, medical lab technician, and Darshan Singh, Class IV employee, were booked by the Punjab police for tampering with chemical reports of seized drugs and allegedly labelled them as failed samples or having low percentage of drug contents in their reports in exchange for hefty sums. The sources in vigilance bureau said the samples of opium, recovered from Randhir, Viney and Karu Lal after their arrest last year, were labelled as failed samples by the laboratory officials. “Officials of the laboratory has also been booked in the case now,” said a vigilance officer. Notably after involvement of certain officials of the laboratory in a drug-haul case surfaced, the vigilance team had investigated the previous records, of last six years, of the lab. |

Chandigarh, November 18 In her statement to the police, 19-year-old girl alleged that Rajiv of Deep Complex, Hallo Majra, alleged that Rajiv threatened and forced her for marriage after entering her house on November 17. A case of assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty (354) and criminal intimidation (506) of the IPC has been registered at Industrial Area police station. The police has arrested the accused, who is the son of former sarpanch of Hallo Majra Mahesh Kumar Gupta. 3 booked in cheating case
The police booked three youths in a case of cheating after they were caught chatting during the railway exam yesterday. Sandeep Kumar hailing from Hisar, Sandeep Kumar of Rohtak, and Sandeep were caught using mobile phones during the examination at Government College, Sector 46, on November 17. They were noticed by the invigilator. Police sources said the trio were getting the answers over the phone. The mobile phones were taken by the police for investigations. Two accused were nabbed on the spot while the third is yet to be arrested. Only about a fortnight ago, two Sonepat-based boys aged 20 and 22 were booked after they were allegedly caught cheating during the railway exam held on October 27. Manjit Kumar and Manjeet Kumar both were using mobile phones while taking the exam at Post Graduate College, Sector 46. Ravinder said they were caught red-handed while exchanging messages over the phone. |

Following a meeting fixed by the couple, the accused had come to the club to meet their eight- year-old daughter, who stays with her mother. After separation, one daughter was residing with her mother, while the other child aged 10, stays with Naveen. Chandigarh, November 18 A total of around 200 students from across the tricity, representing five institutions, will participate in the event. Like every year, they will participate in the athletics events and will be awarded with prizes, certificates, mementoes, ribbons. Spreading a message of live life with courage, these students are practicing hard ahead of their annual sports meet. Leaving no stone unturned, all of them regular attend sports activity twice a day during eth school hours. Their teachers are looking after them and like every other coach guiding them to make fame. “These special children have the ability to prove themselves at any level. They might not perform like a normal player but in their section, they are always in to give a good fight. They are a perfect example of ‘never give up’ and they do follow these lines in all good manner” said Rakesh, coach at SOREM School, Sector 36. Besides participating in similar gender and age category, these special children will perform under the same ability group and like every other state meets the organisers of these Annual Athletics Meet will also select good bunch of player to further participate in nationals and world games.“The best performer will be selected to represent the city further in the nationals. The event will be organised for two days,” said Anil Sharma, Sports Director of the Special Olympics. During the opening ceremony of the championship, these special children will also perform a special parade. Besides participating, they will also cheer the other participants. “The children are preparing well. It takes a lot of time to teach the basics of sports. But the courage and their smiling faces-after winning the medals-make us more proud. They do fall under the special children but their dedication, ability, skills and effort is same as like a normal sportsman. God has gifted them a gesture of spreading happiness and the next two days, the stadium will witness their will,” said a coach of a local institution for special children. |

Roller skating comes under gradation policy
Chandigarh, November 18 Organisers of the state skating championship received overwhelming entries, in comparison to that of the last year’s participation. The announcement was made on the National Sports Day 2012 and the event was expected to get included in the next years’ gradation policy. Last year, a total of 150 participants participated in the skating event of the state roller skating championship while the number went up to 325 participants this year. Also, the tournament received a total of 50 entries in the roller-hockey event of the same championship whereas the number was around 20 last year. “We have received a good response after it was announced that it would be included under the gradation policy. The city has a lot of talent in skating and hopefully in coming days the same place would produce some international skaters,” said Harpreet Singh, a local coach of skating. “We are happy that the skating will be included under the gradation policy. It will help our children to perform well and will also motivate the players to win more medals for the country,” said a parent. |
