5 arrested for illegal mining
Banur, November 10 The accused are booked under Section 379 of the IPC. The accused have been identified as Harpreet Singh of Khabra, Randheer Singh of Majri, Jaspreet Singh of Sulkhian, Gurnam Singh of Durakotian, all belonging to district Ropar and Gurmeetpal of Banur. Dera Bassi, November 10 The police has registered a case against unidentified accused under Section 302 and 34 of the IPC and started the investigation. The victim has been identified as Alamkhan hailing from Bihar and presently living at Dera Bassi. SHO Gurvant Singh said the police was working on different theories and accused would be in the police net soon. He said according to the footage of CCTV cameras two accused had come to the bank and attacked the bank guard who was sleeping. Later, the victim was attacked in the nearby street. According to information, victim was doing his duty in place of permanent guard Kuldeep who was on leave. The intention of both the accused to loot the bank not witnessed from the footage of CCTV cameras. The purpose behind the murder was yet to be identified. — OC |

SGGS-26 win football meet
Chandigarh, November 10 In the title clash match, the SGGS team beat their rivals 4-0. It was the AG Haryana side that initiated the attack through right striker Harminder Singh but shot went over the goal post. Releasing some pressure, the SGGS team built their attack through Rajan Negi, who forwarded a cake-pass to right half Saurav before the latter attempted a powerful shot but failed in his attempt. Continuing their attack, the winning team scored the lead through left striker Rajan, who marginally defeated veteran custodian of the AG Haryana, in the 24th minute. After penetrating the defense, the team continued their attacking game and doubled the lead again through Rajan. He smartly posted the ball in the 43rd minute to double the lead. Right before the lemon break, right stopper Nikhil Prashar increased their margin in the 46th minute with a powerful shot. Completely controlling the game, striker Rajan sealed the match after scoring his third and team’s fourth goal in the 67th minute. |

Local lad eyes Youth Olympics
Chandigarh, November 10 In FEI challenge- qualifier for the Youth Olympics 2014 - Zoravar has competed in the highest category in Category-A, comprised of jumps of 1.20 meter and a course with a high level of difficulty. He was the youngest rider competing in his category and his performance over the 4 rounds was boosted by combination of riding skills, mental strength and natural talent. While talking to media, Zoravar mentioned that he is looking forward for the Youth Olympics 2014. “In Youth Olympics the best 4 riders from Asia will be going as a team. The selection will be tough and the results will be out by the end of the year, hopefully I will manage to achieve the top spot,” said he. About his future plans, he added “I would start my training in Germany soon, following National level Horse Shows in India and as well as in International shows in Europe. I am also targeting the Asian Games of 2018 and the Olympics of 2020,” he added. Zoravar is riding from the age of 3-years and competing since he was 6 years old. He also bagged the Best Child Rider Award twice at the Delhi Horse Show and also won the FEI World Dressage Challenge. |
