Panchkula, October 23 The petition was filed by the employee Vijay Dahiya who was working as a technical assistant. The petition stated that in 2008 Khemka intentionally troubled him and gave remarks on his caste. The court directed the police to conduct investigations and if found guilty to register a case against him. |

Lawyer’s murder: Charges to be framed on Nov 6
Mohali, October 23 The case is being heard in the Court of Mohali Additional District And Sessions Judge Manjot Kaur. According to sources one of the two accused, who have been lodged in Ludhiana Jail, could not turn up to attend today's proceedings in the court following which the court has set November 6 as next hearing date on which framing of charges would take place.The accused Dharminder did not attend the court proceedings on medical grounds today. Meanwhile, the jail superintendent of Ludhiana Jail, who was asked by the court to give his explanation for not sending Dharminder and Jaswinder Singh to attend last hearing on October 16 from his jail, today submitted his explanation in this regard. — TNS |

The charge sheet was filed against Chauhan, alias Bhai Saab, alias Badrinarayan, alias Lucky, alias Vijay, and Amit, alias Ashwani Chauhan, alias Prince, alias Hakla, alias Ashok, alias Tutalla, in a special court at Panchkula charging them with murder, conspiracy and other offences. — TNS |

The court today acquitted three persons, including the husband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law of a woman, in a dowry death case. The court acquitted the three for the death of Leena Devi, a resident of Mani Majra. As per prosecution, the three had poisoned her to death. The court acquitted her husband Manjit, his mother Sushila and his brother Neeraj of all charges. The incident had occurred in December 2012. |

ASI caught taking bribe of Rs 20,000
Mohali, October 23 The ASI was trapped on the complaint of Avtar Singh, a resident of Lohgarh village (Ambala). In his complaint, Avtar Singh alleged that his sister, Tejwinder Kaur, who was married to Kuldip Singh of Bhukhri village near Kharar, had died on October 14 under mysterious circumstances. “The Kharar police had booked Kuldip Singh, his father Mohinder Singh and mother Malkit Kaur. We came to know that Tejwinder’s sister-in-law, Charanjit Kaur, alias Babli, was also involved in the incident but her name was not there in the FIR. ASI Shingara Singh, who was investigating officer in the case, was demanding Rs 30,000 to add Charnajit Kaur’s name to the FIR but later settled on Rs 20, 000,” alleged the complainant. On getting complaint, the vigilance team laid a trap and nabbed Shingara Singh while accepting the bribe from Avtar Singh. Shingara Singh was ‘munshi’ at the police station and recently got promoted. An official of vigilance bureau said a case has been registered against Shingara Singh. He would be produced before the court tomorrow. |

Man attacks himself, blames wife
Chandigarh, October 23 Ashwani called up the police and alleged that his wife had attacked him with a sharp- edged weapon. Ashwani had hit himself in the arm with the weapon. The accused, Ashwani was earlier booked for theft after his wife, Vijay Laksmi had alleged that her husband had stolen her cheque. Vijay Laksmi, a resident of Sector 19, had complained that her husband Ashwani had stolen a cheque of Rs 75,000 and a gold chain and an earring on October 17. Following the complaint, the police had booked Ashwani for theft but he was yet to be arrested. After he was taken for medical examination, it was revealed that the injuries were self-inflicted. The police then arrested him in the case of theft registered against him. |

Four snatchers arrested
Mohali, October 23 Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the arrested persons were Deepak Joshi from Kumbhra village, Jatinder Singh, alias Kaddu, from Amritsar, Rahul, alias Happy, from Daun village and Kishan from Muradabad (UP). “These miscreants have been arrested at a naka following a tip-off. The police has several cases received against Kaddu and Deepak”, said SSP Bhullar. The CIA in charge, inspector Gurcharan Singh, said during preliminary interrogation the miscreants have confessed that they were planning a strike during the festival season. “They have also confessed that they were involved in several thefts and snatchings here. We are hopeful of solving several cases of theft and snatching with their arrest,” said inspector Gurcharan Singh. The police has already arrested one of their accomplices Sarabjit Singh, alias Raja, for snatching a gold chain last week. A case under Sections 382, 379, 34 of the IPC has been registered against the accused at the Phase VIII police station, Mohali. |

Sushant wins gold medal in tae kwon do
