Tremors of a separate Telangana becoming a reality are sending shockwaves following reports of agitations against Andhra’s bifurcation affecting traffic between northern and southern parts of the country, creating convulsions within the Congress and emboldening regional groups that were once parts of the ruling party.

Another intrusion bid in Kupwara, 4 militants dead
Srinagar, October 5
The Army foiled another infiltration bid in the Keran sector of Kupwara district by killing four militants on Saturday. This is the second such bid foiled by the Army in the past two days, leaving seven militants dead.

Amritsar, October 5
Corporate giant Tata Sons Ltd has agreed to operate the Bus Rapid Transit System in Amritsar and Ludhiana. The decision was taken at a breakfast meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry today.

Hooda defends khaps, says they don’t order honour killings

A fortnight after three honour killings, a double murder in Rohtak’s Gharnawati village and the murder of a teenager in Panipat’s Bapoli village added to Haryana’s now notorious image on the social front, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today came out strongly in defence of the khaps, claiming they had nothing to do with honour killings.
