First cultivated citrus fruitCitron (Citrus
medica) was the first fruit among dozens of citrus fruits which was brought under cultivation. It is native of Persia. Its cultivation began first in the Middle East. Citron is used by Jews for religious rituals. It is therefore found on various Hebrew antiques and in archeological findings. Citron is a pleasantly fragrant fruit. It also grows in North India and is called
bajoori.
