Women less assertive about credit

Under normal circumstances, women will willingly take full credit due to them in a team assignment. But if they have a male team member, they let go some of that credit. University of Massachusetts Lowell and NYU have conducted a study and the researchers have found that women valued their contribution less when they were with a male team member. The study was carried out on 34 men and 36 women who were each made to believe that they were a part of a team study where the end result would be deduced after taking into account their partners work. Though actually they had no partner, the women who were made to believe that they had been paired with a man were less likely to take credit for what they had contributed to the task.

Friends rejected for promiscuity

Women, it seems, analyse their friends' sexual behaviour more than society and penalise them for the same by rejecting them as friends. A study by Ted Boscia of the College of Human Ecology has offered explanation for those who have been isolated by friends due to their sexual activity. Women seek to keep themselves away from any negative repercussions that may suffer due to interaction with their promiscuous friends. Those with liberal views held the same preferences. The same study also discovered that men were likely to favour less sexually active friends only if they perceived them as a threat or believe they might steal their partner. — AG
