“We had no food or water for three days,” said a couple recounting the tales of horror of the flood-ravaged Uttarakhand. Even as they managed to return home safe from Hemkunt Sahib on Saturday, the couple said they were still in a state of shock, seeing people being washed away in flash floods.

Admn shoots off letter to Punjab, Haryana

The enforcement staff of the UT Estate Office today demolished a steel structure that had been raised by the management of Pracheen Shiv Mandir on government land in Sector 10 here. 795 stray dogs vaccinated

To make the city rabies free and to implement the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules 2001, the Municipal Corporation had organised free anti-rabies vaccination camps for stray dogs in collaboration with the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Chandigarh, over the past more than two months.

Students protest reconduct of exams

Students of DAV College, Sector 10, today staged a protest against the Panjab University’s decision to reconduct some of the examinations in view of the confusion over the date sheets.
“As per details provided by the university on its official website, exams were scheduled to begin from May 21, 2013, to June 7, 2013. However, as per information received by colleges from the university in their official gazette, the date for exams was from May 22 to June 8,” said students.
