Dr chiranjit parmar

Archeologists estimate that jackfruit has been cultivated in India since the past 3000 to 6000 years. It is one of the oldest Indian fruits. It is believed to have originated in the tropical forests of the Western Ghats. In South India, the popularity of this fruit ranks only after mango and banana. More than 100,000 trees of Jackfruit are planted in backyards of South Indian homes and in coffee and pepper plantations. Though North Indians have only one use of Jackfruit, i.e. a vegetable, but in Karnataka more than 40 dishes are prepared from this fruit.
