22 students of SD Vidya School, Ambala Cantonment, score a perfect 10

As many as 22 students of SD Vidya School, Ambala Cantonment, got 10 CGPA in the CBSE Class X examinations, results of which were declared today. The students who excelled are Pooja, Mehak, Dikha, Khushboo, Mansi, Ankita, Radhika, Devanshu, Priya, Riya, Karan Khanna, Pulkit, Isha, Karan Juneja, Kritika, Prathna, Sahib, Gagandeep, Chetna, Ujjwal, Sandeep and Manik.

Abhishek, Sneha, Nitika and Kaustubh of GMN Public School secured 10 CGPA. Rashmi and Selja of DCM Public School, Ambala Cantonment, also got 10 CGPA.

The students of Lord Mahavir Public School, Ambala Cantonment, who secured 10 CGPA are Tarun, Ishaan, Chahat, Vaibhav Bharti, Arjun, Atiksha, Kartikey Sharma, Yuvraj Sharma, Saurav Singh, Gurjot, Deepika Suri, Aman Jain, Simran Sahni, Ayush Suri, Paras Kalra, Puneet Nishad, Purti, Tanya Duseja, Rijul, Reena and Taradutt.

As many as 25 students of MDAV Public School, Ambala City, got 10 CGPA. They are Dipansh, Ambika, Jahnvi, Bhavya, Brhamjot, Vaibhav, Devanshu, Riya, Siddhant, Ritika, Seerat, Himanshi, Jaismeen, Diksha, Jaspreet, Asmita, Bhavya, Lohitkash, Kashish, Viren, Vinayka, Tushita, Mrida, Deeksha and Shreya.

Similarly, Mansi, Nitika, Nipun, Nikhil, Parth, Priyanka, Puneet, Ruchika, Sambhav, Shreya, Shubham, Vaibhav, Vinish, Rohit, Nikhil, Anshul, Arjun, Bhanu, Dhruv, Diksha, Garima, Jayant, Anu, Gursimar, Kalyani, Akshya, Loveleen, Mahima and Mani of PKR Jain Public School secured 10 CGPA.

The students of SA Jain Model School, who got a CGPA of 10 are Parul, Nitika, Arnav, Vasu, Naman, Ashima, Kanu, Anmol, Muskan, Divyanshu, Aarju, Ridhima, Sneha, Arun, Navjot, Archit, Shubham, Priya, Anubhav, Harsh, Shivanku, Priyanka, Asmita, Saurabh, Palvai, Bharti, Pranav, Monika and Mukul.

Mansi, Nitika, Navjot, Nishta, Palkin, Priyanshu, Sanchit, Akash, Akansha, Akshita, Ankit, Dakshita, Gunjan, Garima, Harshita, Mahima, Ananya, Jayneet and Bhavya of Sant Joseph Public School, Ambala City, secured 10 CGPA.

Harshita, Muskan, Prachi, Vedang, and Raghav of PKR Jain Vatika got 10 CGPA.

Students of Our Lady of Fatima Convent School shine

Putting forth an example of academic excellence, as many as 50 students of Our Lady of Fatima Convent School have scored 10 CGPA, eight have got 9.8 CGPA, seven have got 9.6 CGPA, eight have got 9.4 CGPA, five have got 9.2 CGPA and three have got 9 CGPA. As many as 81 students have got more than 9 CGPA.

DAV Public School, Bhupindra Road, Patiala: Thirty-six students scored 10 CGPA. In addition to this, 52 students got CGPA above 9. The overall result of 199 students who appeared in AISSE-2013 is 100 per cent.

Budha Dal Public School, Patiala: As many as 30 students of Budha Dal Public School, Patiala, added a feather in the cap of their alma mater by scoring 10 CGPA in the CBSE Class X results. The school has 100 per cent result.

Akal Academy, Reet Kheri: Students of Class X gave an outstanding performance with 100 per cent pass percentage. As many as six students out of the 75 scored 10 CGPA and 34 students scored 9 CGPA and above.

St Peter's Academy: As many as 101 students appeared for the examination and 24 of them topped with 10 CGPA. They scored A1 grade in all subjects. Fifty-seven students scored 9 CGPA and above.

Police DAV Public School: The school achieved 100 per cent result, consecutively for the third year. As many as six students secured 10 CGPA, 12 got 9 CGPA and above, 33 secured 8 CGPA and above and 38 secured 7 CGPA and above. Four girls, Kamaldeep Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Pahul Kaur and Nitika Garg, and two boys, Jang Bhadur and Jujhar Singh, got 10 CGPA.

Guru Nanak Foundation School: As many as 164 students appeared for the exams and the result of the school is 100 per cent. Five students got 10 CGPA, while 32 students got 9 CGPA and above and 31 students got 8 CGPA and above.

Patel Public School, Rajpura: The result of the school is 100 per cent as all 210 students have cleared the examination. Five students scored 10 CGPA and more than 25 students got 9 CGPA and above.

Narain Public School: Five students - Jagjeet Singh, Mayank Gupta, Rehatdeep Kaur, Jasleen Kaur and Navneet Kaur - secured 10 CGPA and 10 students secured more than 9 CGPA. This year also, the school has 100 per cent result.

Scholar Fields Public School: The overall pass percentage of the school is 100 per cent. Harshinder Kaur has topped the school with 10 CGPA. She belongs to the economically weaker section and the total expenditure of her studies is being borne by the school management right from the beginning i.e. since 2004.

S. Teja Singh Kandhari Public School: Chandran (9.8 CGPA), Anubhav (9.4 CGPA) and Gagandeep Kaur (9.2 CGPA) brought laurels to the school. The result of the school is 100 per cent.

Bhupindra International Public School: The result of the school is 100 per cent and Khushboo topped with 10 CGPA. Varun and Rasandeep with 9.8 CGPA bagged the second position, while Nidhi and Sherry with 9.6 CGPA got the third position.

Blossoms Senior Secondary School: Rachin Markan has topped by securing 10 CGPA, while Kulwinder Singh has got the second position with 9.4 CGPA.

Apollo Public Senior Secondary School: Shivam Garg scored 10 CGPA, followed by Parul (9.8 CGPA) Shubham (9.6 CGPA) and Ibadat (9.4 CGPA). Out of the 80 students who appeared for the CBSE Class X examinations, 25 students scored 8 CGPA and above, whereas 27 students scored more than 7 CGPA. The result is 100 per cent.

Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Public School: Arshdeep Singh, Ramneet Kaur and Tripat Ranjan Kaur brought laurels to the school with 10 CPGA.

Rupnagar students come out with flying colours

Students of various schools of Rupnagar have excelled in the CBSE Class X exams. Out of the 152 students of Shiwalik Public School, 13 students - Shubham Chaudhary, Varsha, Jaskirat Kaur, Anmol Chopra, Bhawna Sharma, Harmanjot, Harmeet Kaur, Ishika, Kritika, Srishti, Satvika, and Inderpreet - got 10 CGPA.

Nitik Verma and Harshit Sharma scored 9.8 CGPA, while Nikhil Verma, Vishnu Prapat Sharma, Piyush Paras, Kiranpreet Kaur and Sidhartha got 9.6 CGPA. The overall pass percentage of the school was 100 per cent.

Similarly, 100 per cent students of Shaibizada Ajit Singh Academy qualified for the next class. While three students - Mansi Vashist, Jaskaran Kaur and Jacika Verma - bagged the first position by getting 10 CGPA, Avneet Kaur bagged the second position with 9.8 CGPA. Karamwant Kaur, Chandan Harshdeep Singh Dhindsa and Gurpreet Singh bagged the third position by scoring 9.6 CGPA.

Similarly, students of Netaji Model School who got 10 CGPA are Anjali Goyal, Ankit Garg, Hitashi Dhawan, Radha Sharma, Abhay Singh, Gur Iqbal Singh, Karanpreet Singh and Varinbderjit Singh Mann.

Four drug peddlers arrested

Fatehgarh Sahib, May 30
The district police has arrested four drug peddlers and recovered 10 kg of poppy husk, 10 grams of smack, 7,000 intoxicant tablets, 95 injections and 15 bottles of syrup from their possession.

SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said during a naka, the Amloh police signalled a person riding a motorcycle to stop for checking, but he tried to flee. After some chase, he was overpowered and during the search of his vehicle, the police recovered 10 kg of poppy husk from his possession. He was identified as Fauja Singh, a resident of Patiala. The accused admitted that he used to supply drugs to petty peddlers in the rural areas.

The Mandi Gobindgarh police, during a routine check, arrested one Sajan Kumar, a resident of Mandi Gobindgarh, and recovered 10 grams of smack from his possession. The police arrested Ashok Kumar, alias Gorkha, and recovered 7,000 intoxicant tablets from his possession. — OC

Two awarded life term in double murder case

Mohali, May 30
In the case pertaining to the brutal murder of two women, Shikha Jindal and her daughter Priyanka Jindal, the local court today sentence two accused, Arun Kumar and Pawan Kumar, both residents of Baltana village, to life imprisonment here today.

Mohali Additional District and Sessions Judge Dilbagh Singh Johal awarded life sentence to the duo along with a Rs 10,000 fine each.

Shikha Jindal and her daughter Priyanka Jindal were murdered at their residence by the duo in January last year. The culprits' intention was to loot Shikha's jewellery. Arun is the son of a retired army personnel while Pawan worked as a photographer in Panchkula. Shikha was stabbed to death while Priyanka was strangulated by the culprits. A case was registered on a complaint of Anchal Jindal, another daughter of Shikha Jindal, at the Zirakpur police station.

Stray cattle menace
Court seeks explanation from DC, Mayor

Chandigarh, May 30
The Court of TPS Randhawa, Civil Judge, Chandigarh, today granted time to the Deputy Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, Mayor, SP (Traffic), Additional Commissioner-II of MC and the Superintending Engineer (Roads) of the MCC, to explain as to why action should not be taken against them for their failure to ensure the safety of commuters from stray cattle.

The authorities appeared in the court today in response to summons issued on April 9 and sought time to file details about the actions taken by them in pursuance of the court orders. The petitioner, advocate Pankaj Chandgothia, had earlier filed an application in his Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging therein that the authorities had failed to comply with the court orders dated September 21, 2012. It may be recalled that the court of Civil Judge TPS Randhawa had passed interim orders in the PIL filed by advocate Pankaj Chandgothia against the Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation, to remove stray cattle and street urchins from the city roads.

Allowing the application to treat the case in public interest under Section 91 of the CPC, the court had issued a direction to the defendants to do the needful as per rules so that safety of commuters is ensured and the public at large feels safe while commuting on the roads in thencity.

attack on mohali youth
Culprits identified

Mohali, May 30
The Mohali police has claimed to have identified the culprits behind yesterday's attack on Arshdeep Singh at his house in Phase 11 here. Mohali Superintendent of Police (City) Swarndeep Singh said all the five attackers had been identified.

“For obvious reasons, we can not disclose their identities right now. Most of the culprits are from other towns. Raids are on and they will be arrested soon,” said the SP, Swarndeep Singh.

The BBA student at the RIMT, Mandi Gobindgarh, Arshdeep Singh (20) had suffered serious injuries after he was attacked by five armed youngsters with swords at his residence in Phase 11 at around 6 pm yesterday.

The attackers had come in a Lancer car, bearing registration number CH03B-8805.

Swarndeep Singh said the police had the entire details of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep has been recuperating at the Government Medical College Hospital, Sector 32, in Chandigarh.

An attempt-to-murder case has been registered against unidentified persons at the Phase 11 police station here.

Remand for UT ASI in graft case

A local court today remanded a UT police ASI, who was arrested in a bribe case, in 14-day judicial custody. ASI Devinder Kumar was arrested yesterday for demanding a bribe of Rs 3,500 from a person for not implicating him in a case.

The the CBI had arrested the ASI while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 in the Sector 19 police station where he was posted. Earlier, the accused was arrested in 2001 in a similar case by the CBI. At that time he was a head constable. He was later acquitted by a court in 2008.

The CBI had received a complaint from Amandeep Singh, a resident of Himachal Pradesh. Amandeep complained to the CBI that he went to the booth market in Sector 19 on May 20 and gave a Rs 500 note to a shopkeeper after purchasing some goods. That note was found to be counterfeit, following which the shopkeeper called the police.

2nd case against cop

Earlier, the accused was arrested in 2001 in a similar case by the CBI. At that time he was a head constable. He was later acquitted by a court in 2008.

Digvijay logs win in CLTA semis

In the semis of boys (U-14) category, Digvijay Pratap defeated Rishabh Sharda at the CLTA courts, Sector 10, today. In a see-saw match, Digvijay took the lead and won the first set. Rishabh came back strongly to win the second set at 6-1.

In the final set, after a tie at 3-3 both the players pushed hard to win the set but Rishabh took the breaking point with Digvijay’s serve. He was up 5-3 in the final set but the latter won the next 3 games to shift the score 6-5. Rishabh again levelled the game 6-6. In the tie-breaker, Digvijay took 3-0 lead but his lead was shortened again when Rishabh levelled the game at 3-3. Digvijay took 5-3 lead and managed to close the tie-breaker at 7-4.

The match lasted 3 hours 35 minutes. In the girls’ (U-12) semi-final match, Sarah Dev beat Vanshika Choudhary 6-0, 6-0.
