A variety of malta orange (Citrus sinensis) with an unusual colour exists in Brazil. The fruits of this variety have yellow stripes on the body which is yellowish green. Normally the colour of malta oranges varies from yellow to deep orange, which is uniformly distributed. Malta orange used to be cultivated orange all over India till six to seven decades back. Then its trees started getting affected by the disease called "citrus decline". It virtually wiped off malta orange orchards and the farmers stopped growing this fruit.
