A unique and unusually flavoured variety of apple called “cinnamon spice” is grown in Northern California. It originated in Bolinas-Olema Valley, California sometime in the 1980s. The apple was discovered in some old trees. It is uncertain how this apple originated. The fruits of this apple have dedicate, spicy, cinnamon-like flavour, particularly in the skin. Cinnamon spice fruits are medium sized, red coloured, with textured skin, reminiscent of red delicious and have somewhat irregular shape. Cinnamon spice is a sweet-taste variety with medium chilling requirements.
