Broad brush Touch of gold

A piece of a gold breastplate in the shape of a bat-like man, is displayed at the exhibition “Gold, the Pre-Hispanic Colombian Art Form” in the National Museum of Cultures at the Zocalo main square in Mexico City. About 250 artefacts, including pectoral golden ornaments, clay vessels and volcanic stones produced by pre-Hispanic cultures are featured in the exhibition, according to organisers and the Mexican National Institute of Anthropology and History. The show will run till February 3, 2013. |
Flyswatters

Russian artist Vasily Slonov works on an art installation, during the preparations for his exhibition at the Krasnoyarsk Museum Centre, with a flyswatter displaying an image of Marilyn Monroe seen in the foreground, in Russia’s Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk. Slonov created 68 flyswatters, displaying images of well-known politicians, famous historical characters and modern celebrities, for his exhibition, according to the artist.

Who let the cats out?

People visit the “Cats Republic” art cafe in St Petersburg. The cafe includes an exhibition area, a library and a separate hall with cats living inside. Visitors of the cafe can pay $5-$10 to play with the cats, according to the owners.
