Gac (Momordica cohinchinensis), a fruit from South-East Asia, has emerged as a new super-fruit. It contains 70 times more lycopene than tomatoes and 20 times more beta carotene than carrots, which are best-known sources of these nutrients till date. Not only that, gac also contains 40 times more Vitamin C than oranges and 40 times more zeaxanthin than yellow corn. Recent research suggests that gac also contains a protein that may inhibit proliferation of cancer cells. Gac cannot be eaten raw and has to be cooked.
