Govt rubbishes allegation, says it’s factually incorrect
New Delhi, July 2
The presidential race took an interesting turn today with Opposition-sponsored Purno A Sangma objecting to the candidature of Pranab Mukherjee on the grounds that he holds an Office of Profit as the Chairman of the Kolkata-based Indian Statistical Institute, a charge rejected both by the organisation and the government.

Gurmeet Singh, alias Pinki, addresses the media on MondayNearly three years after surfacing of the cash-for-judge rip-off, a convicted Punjab Police Inspector today accused a former Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge of demanding bribe. Addressing media, CAT commando Gurmeet Singh, alias Pinki, created a flutter this morning when he said Justice Jora Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to release him in a murder case.
