Show-offs

The greatest torture for an Indian woman is that when she has bought new expensive jewellery but doesn’t get a chance to show it off. Men are no exception. They buy the costliest cars, lap tops, watches not for any actual use but just to show these off to their peers. A survey report says that Indians are big show-offs. The Indian respondents of the survey said 75 per cent of their treasure is collected because they like to show it off to people while this figure for China is 52 per cent.

Most rich people have expensive farm houses which they use only for throwing parties. Only their servants and caretakers actually live in these farm houses and enjoy the place.

Some friends specialise in putting you down. I once bought an expensive wrist watch. The day I wore it for the first time, I rolled my sleeves up but nobody noticed the watch. At last, I asked a friend, “Could you tell me the time? I want to see if my new watch gives correct time.” He told me the time without even looking at my watch.

My frustration levels shot up. I said,” Look at this watch, I bought it for Rs 75,000 and I am still not sure if it gives the right time.” I was expecting an expression of awe. He cursorily glanced at the watch and said, “You should have spend Rs 25,000 more and bought a new one instead of this second-hand watch.”
