Mansa case: Main accused arrested:
  The Sangrur police has claimed to have arrested Mohammed Dilshad Haji, the main accused in the Mansa cow slaughter case, from Delhi. He was reportedly hiding there along with an accomplice Mohammed Latif, alias Tipu. The accused would allegedly slaughter cows in their factory in Mansa’s Joga village and sell meat in UP for Rs 40 per kg. They had the licence for grinding animal bones.

Dera Bassi
Man killed:
A man working with Saurv Chemical Company died after a pipe containing some chemical burst. The deceased was identified as 32-year-old Sanjay Pandey, a resident of Mubarkpur, near here. He was rushed to GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, where he was declared brought dead. Dera Bassi SHO Gurdyal Singh said a probe was on.

Rewari
5 cops booked:
As many as five cops - ASI Sharwan Kumar, head constable Basant Kumar, constables Raj Pal, Rakesh and Rajesh, of the Model Town police station here, have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Abhishek Garg, SP, has placed them under suspension and asked Krishan Lal, DSP (Headquarters), to probe the matter. There were complaints that the five cops had been extorting money from vehicle operators. These complaints were probed by a senior police official. The probe prima facie found them guilty. 

Hisar
Mountaineers:
A 12-member group of mountaineers of the HAU left for scaling the CB-14 peak, which is 20057 feet high. The group was flagged off by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr KS Khokhar. The group would try to scale the peak under the supervision of president of the Mountaineering Club Mukesh Saini and general secretary Manoj Kemwal. 

Fatehabad
Elected:
Dr Shreyans Kumar Jain, former CMD of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and Bhartiya Nabhkiya Vidyut Nigam Limited (BHAVINI) has been unanimously elected Chairman of the Governing Board of World Association of Nuclear Operators - Tokyo Centre (WANO-TC), Japan. Dr Jain had retired from the post of the CMD of the NPCIL on May 31 this year on his superannuation.
