LIKE humans — animals, birds, insects, reptiles and even fish send out signals, set rules and make choices for an ideal partner. Celebrating the season of love, Animal Planet presents a special programming line-up, Love In The Wild on Tuesday. Scheduled as a marathon, it will air on Valentine’s Day (February 14) starting from 8:00 am till midnight. From animal attractions to sacrificing mothers, the all-day special programming captures the love and tenderness in the wild. The special programming will have five remarkable series featuring Lauren the lioness, Victoria the cheetah, Josie the female baboon, Esther the elephant and many more.

It showcases the love and devotion of the mothers in the wild, reveals how picky they are about their partners and how utterly devoted they are to their young. It also sheds light on the various ways and means creatures in the wild adopt to find opportunities to mate. All species, be they predators or preys, are eventually looking for the same thing: a partner to pair and give life. In other words: love! But as among humans, the path to it can be long and tricky. One must go through a succession of well-organised rituals, which are very rich, very subtle and very diverse among species. — TNS
