Tehsildar’s office, Suvidha Centre ‘powerless’
Fatehgarh Sahib, December 18 Though a generator set has been installed in the building that houses both Suvidha Centre and tehsildar’s office, no one has ever bothered to operate the same. Manoj Banda, secretary, Hindu Organisation, said though the state government claimed to have implemented Citizen's Charter in 67 departments for time bound delivery of papers, the problem was that people had to make rounds of the offices just to get their papers deposited. He said in tehsil office Rs 1,200 was charged as computer fee from all those who got their documents registered. Similarly, at the Suvidha Centre one had to shell out a hefty sum for getting an application deposited, he added. But the centre eludes a proper seating arrangement. One cannot find potable water there. Moreover, in the absence of tehsildars, the registration work is started in the afternoon and it continues till late evening. When contacted, naib tehsildar, said the government was not providing funds for buying diesel for the generator set. |

Gyms at coaching centres cry for attention
Chandigarh, December 18 The poor condition of the gyms was reported in the columns on June 21 of this year; however, nothing has been done to introduce new equipments and infrastructure at the centres. Hi-tech gyms are getting regular attention and care whereas the gyms meant for players at sports complexes and training centres, have not undergone any kind of change for the past 15 years. The equipment at gyms of Sports Complex, Sector 7, Football Stadium, Sector 17, and Sports Complex, Sector 46, are in poor condition. “At the most, the authorities provide us with free machine oil so that it can work properly. These are among the oldest gyms of the city and might be for keeping only as heritage items,” said a player, at Coaching Centre, Sector 7. Notably, both the gyms come under the sports department but the gyms of sports stadiums have been given a step motherly treatment after the excuse that if the coache, appointed at the coaching centre, asks for the requirements in writing, the centre will be provided. “Many a times the officials do visit the complexes as chief guests during any tournaments but they never stress upon the fact that the complexes need make-up. We do provide them in writing but then we remain under the axe of officials,” said a coach, on the condition of anonymity. |
