One of the horticulturists, I will not name, once while passing near a house plot where some palms were planted, commented that one should not plant palms in the house or plot as it symbolises desert and makes the house a desert. “See, this plot has palms and lies vacant for so many years!” This came as a shocker to me, not because I was listening to this kind of talk for the first time but because it came from an educated person and that too a horticulturist.
